All go at the Gardening Club

The Gardening Club also had some harvesting
to do this week, when it met met for the first
time after the Summer. There are lots of
new faces, as well as some 'hardy annuals'
from last year who were great
at showing everyone the ropes.

A bumper crop of 'neeps'!
And big smiles at the
thought of haggis and neeps for tea.

A dedicated team of weeders!!

Some enthusiastic composting...

...and off for a bath to get rid of the mud!
Happy days...
and what a nice way to spend an afternoon.

Harvest time in the Nursery

Over the holidays peas, green beans and potatoes were all growing away in the nursery garden. This week the children had fun harvesting their vegetables

and then they ate them for snack.

Digging away...

....is that a potato?

Welcome back Forthview!

Welcome back everyone! After a few (!) technical hitches the blog is back!

Forthview got straight back into the new term,
working hard in the nursery...

...all the way up to P7 -
and don't they look SO smart in the new red hoodies?

We also say a big welcome to new members of staff...

Miss Angela Haffey, working in P5
Lucia McWilliams, working...well...just about everywhere!

Miss Chrissie Borg, working in P6/7

and Miss Ania Mika, working in P2b.

We also have Ms Lauren Venn, working in P1b

Farewell Forthview!

This is my last posting on the Forthview School blog. I would like to thank each child, each parent, each carer and each member of staff for the fantastic send off you gave me. I was given so many cards, gifts, flowers and warm wishes. You have all been so very, very kind. Forthview is deep in my soul and it's hard to imagine life without you but it is time to go.....

I wish you all well in your next phase of the Forthview journey. I think the beginning of Forthview School is now complete. You're 6 years old now and it's time to consolidate and move forward into the future.

You are a strong and feisty school community and together you will continue to shape Forthview into a great centre of learning and nurture. You will be well led by Mrs Heatly and Mr Napier and I look forward to reading this blog regularly to hear what you get up to next. I will particularly be looking next Easter for your next Thingyan Water Festival event!

Before I left today, I was absolutely delighted to see the new Climbing Wall for the 'big end' in place and did have a wee shot myself. So enjoy it children.
I've a special message for the P4/P5 footballers - "They've put the climbing wall right in the middle of your football pitch! Sorry, that's not where it was meant to go. I hope there is still room for you to play football."

Farewell Forthview.... and the last word has to come from Fischy!

As we go now from this moment

As we leave behind our time together

May we treasure one another

May we realise how precious we are....

You are precious! Thank you.

Ms Laing and P7s last day at Forthview.

Goodbye Forthview!

Mr Wright and Mrs Jenkinson are going to miss us...

Ms Laing thanks Mrs Ash for being so kind to the children,

so patient with the parents
and such a great school administrator.

Ms Laing thanks Ruby Duby for being her friend for 29 years

and for running such a brilliant Breakfast Club
for 100 bairns.

P7s come into the hall that is packed with parents, friends and children
all here to celebrate their Forthview days
and to wish them well in their future.

At P7 and Ms Laing's last assembly,
our good friend, Tim Gellaitry, pipes P7s in.

Ms Laing's last week at Forthview...

P1a gave Ms Laing a 'Mini Me' card!
Thanks P1. I'll put this up in my office at Campie!

We had a disco for Ms Laing leaving.
We know how to PARTY!!

Ms Dolly Laing visits Forthview from time to time.
She came to the disco.
When Ms Laing took her wig off,
we realised she'd been Ms Dolly Laing all the time.
She'd tricked us for 6 years!!

The Nursery said goodbye to Ms Laing at their Garden Party.
They made her lovely hat too.

Ms Laing gave us lovely new candles for our Feeling Table.

Ms Laing was greetin when John came to say goodbye
because John was her neighbour in the 1980s
when she lived in Pilton.
